“Whether you’re a frustrated young person or an anxious adult, my first step is assuring you that therapy is a place where feelings can be shared safely.”
— LaShawn

LaShawn Goss-Love is a licensed marriage and family therapist (“LMFT”) and trained play therapist. She’s worked with children and families for over 30 years.

For me, it’s all about relationships and community. Parents and their children - kids and their parents, and their siblings. People and coworkers, and neighbors, and folks from church, and everybody else they interact with on a frequent basis.

These relationships help us get by when things are challenging - and when these relationships become challenging they can throw everything off balance.

And that’s why I want to be here to help you. We’ll talk through your relationships - we’ll work on healthy boundaries - we’ll work on communication - we’ll set goals and explore techniques to help you cope and adapt to change.

And the thing is - whether you’re 6 years old or 60 years old - it’s the same work that we do, exploring these relationships. The big difference is that I communicate differently with my young clients than with my adult clients - I adapt to you.

I say this often, but it’s worth repeating: You don’t need to feel guilty/scared/nervous about seeking therapy. We don’t beat ourselves up for not being able to fix the computers that run our cars - yet we still think we should be able to navigate the complicated relationships that surround us. Cut yourself some slack and reach out to me. Together we’re going to make things better.
